Issues and Priorities
Cecil County deserves leadership that is practical, accountable, and focused on results. I do not believe government should make decisions based on slogans, pressure, or appearances. Good policy requires a clear purpose, honest evaluation, and a willingness to explain how and why a decision was made.
Too often, governments pass resolutions, adopt policies, or approve spending without clearly defining what success looks like. If we do not define success at the beginning, we cannot know whether a decision worked, whether taxpayer dollars were spent wisely, or whether a different approach is needed. I believe county government should set clear goals, measure results, and be willing to stay the course or make corrections based on evidence.
I also believe transparency and accountability must be more than talking points. The public deserves to know not only what decisions are made, but how they are made. That means explaining the decision-making process, identifying the alternatives considered, and showing residents how county leaders arrived at their conclusion. Public trust is strengthened when government is open, disciplined, and willing to answer hard questions.
My priorities for Cecil County reflect those principles.
Fiscal Responsibility & Lower Taxes
Families across Cecil County are dealing with higher costs for groceries, utilities, housing, fuel, and everyday life. County government should respect that reality. Taxpayers deserve a government that spends carefully, prioritizes wisely, and understands that every public dollar was earned by someone in the private economy.
I support responsible budgeting, disciplined spending, and a serious review of how county funds are allocated. Supporting essential services does not mean writing blank checks. It means asking whether spending is tied to clear goals and measurable outcomes. Large surpluses and unnecessary spending growth should raise hard questions, because they can be signs that government is taking more from residents than it truly needs.
My approach is simple: fund what works, question what does not, and make sure county government lives within its means whenever possible.
Transparent, Accountable Government
Residents should not have to guess how or why major county decisions are made. I believe county government should clearly communicate its process, the information it relied on, the alternatives it considered, and the reasons it chose one option over another.
Transparency is not just about releasing information after the fact. It is about making the reasoning behind decisions understandable to the public before, during, and after action is taken. Accountability means being willing to measure outcomes, revisit decisions, and admit when a change is needed.
As a member of the County Council, I will ask hard questions, press for clear performance measures, and work to ensure that major policies, spending decisions, and resolutions are tied to real objectives that the public can evaluate.
Public Safety & Law Enforcement
Public safety is one of the most basic responsibilities of government. Families should feel safe in their homes, children should be safe in their schools and communities, and law enforcement should have the support and resources needed to do the job effectively.
I strongly support law enforcement, first responders, and the public safety professionals who protect our communities. That support must include making sure resources, staffing, equipment, and facilities are directed where they will make the greatest difference.
Drug use and addiction are significant drivers of crime in our county and must be addressed as part of any serious public safety strategy. Addiction is real, treatment matters, and recovery is possible, but it cannot be used as an excuse for violent crime or the victimization of others.
Serious crime must be addressed seriously, with a focus on protecting victims, supporting law enforcement, and ensuring accountability within the justice system.
Strong Schools & Educational Opportunities
Education is one of the most important investments a community makes. Strong schools help children succeed, support families, strengthen neighborhoods, and contribute to the long-term future of Cecil County.
My wife and I moved to Cecil County in part because of the schools, and four of our children attended Cecil County Public Schools. I understand personally how important strong educational opportunities are for families.
I support investing in education in a way that is thoughtful, accountable, and focused on student success. That means supporting teachers and staff, maintaining safe and functional facilities, and asking whether funding decisions are producing real improvement in outcomes. We should support strong public schools while remaining open to thoughtful options that help meet the needs of students and parents.
The goal should always be clear: decisions that best serve students and prepare them for success.
Responsible Growth & Economic Development
Cecil County should grow in a way that strengthens our economy without sacrificing the character of our communities. Growth should be responsible, strategic, and aligned with a clear vision for the future.
I support expanding the tax base through thoughtful economic development rather than continually asking more from current residents and families. We should seek businesses and industries that create quality jobs, strengthen the local economy, and align with the county's long-term interests. Growth should support infrastructure, public services, and community quality of life, not outpace them.
County leaders should be honest with the public about the tradeoffs involved in major development decisions. Residents deserve to know what alternatives were considered, what benefits are expected, what costs may follow, and how success will be measured over time.
Essential Services & Infrastructure
County government exists to provide core services that people rely on every day. Roads, public facilities, emergency response, and other essential services must be maintained effectively and planned responsibly.
My focus is not on spending more, but on making sure resources reach the people, systems, and infrastructure that actually deliver results. Whether the issue is public safety, schools, or county operations, the key question should always be the same: will this decision measurably improve the services residents depend on?
We need to plan ahead, maintain what we have, and make smart investments that serve both current residents and future generations.
A Government that measures results
Underlying all of my priorities is one basic principle: government should define success before acting. Before passing a policy, approving major spending, or adopting a resolution, county leaders should be able to answer a few simple questions:
What problem are we trying to solve?
What outcome are we trying to achieve?
How will we know if it worked?
What alternatives did we consider?
What will we do if the results fall short?
That is how serious organizations operate, and county government should be no different. When we define success clearly, measure honestly, and communicate openly, we make better decisions and earn greater public trust.
My Commitment
If elected, I will work to bring a disciplined, transparent, and results-oriented approach to county government. I will support public safety, strong schools, and essential services. I will push for responsible growth, careful spending, and lower tax burdens for our residents. I will ensure that county decisions are tied to clear goals, measurable outcomes, and open communication with the people of Cecil County.
Government works best when it remembers who it serves.
